Narrative:
In jan/99 I became rii (required inspection item) qualified, but 2 weeks later it was pulled due to at the time I was a junior mechanic. I was told through word of mouth that it would be reinstated when I upgrade to full mechanic. I personally never checked my training record to see if it was. My supervisor on duty checked for me, but he saw that the full mechanic was reinstated, but not rii qualified. So not to my knowledge from apr/mon/00 to jun/tue/00 I was thinking I was rii qualified. I know all jobs I inspected from apr/mon/00 to jun/tue/00 all follow maintenance manual and gpm procedures. The problem seems to be that my training record was not updated at the time of upgrade.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: A TECHNICIAN WHO ACCOMPLISHED MANDATORY REQUIRED INSPECTIONS ON B757 AND B767 ACFT DID NOT HAVE TRAINING RECORDS UPDATED TO SHOW QUALIFICATION.
Narrative: IN JAN/99 I BECAME RII (REQUIRED INSPECTION ITEM) QUALIFIED, BUT 2 WKS LATER IT WAS PULLED DUE TO AT THE TIME I WAS A JUNIOR MECH. I WAS TOLD THROUGH WORD OF MOUTH THAT IT WOULD BE REINSTATED WHEN I UPGRADE TO FULL MECH. I PERSONALLY NEVER CHKED MY TRAINING RECORD TO SEE IF IT WAS. MY SUPVR ON DUTY CHKED FOR ME, BUT HE SAW THAT THE FULL MECH WAS REINSTATED, BUT NOT RII QUALIFIED. SO NOT TO MY KNOWLEDGE FROM APR/MON/00 TO JUN/TUE/00 I WAS THINKING I WAS RII QUALIFIED. I KNOW ALL JOBS I INSPECTED FROM APR/MON/00 TO JUN/TUE/00 ALL FOLLOW MAINT MANUAL AND GPM PROCS. THE PROB SEEMS TO BE THAT MY TRAINING RECORD WAS NOT UPDATED AT THE TIME OF UPGRADE.
