Narrative:
Departed fullerton airport VFR to return to home base lgb after flight from novato (dvo). After takeoff from fullerton and a turn southward, I contacted lgb tower approximately 5 mi northeast of sli VOR. Lgb tower advised I had entered los alamitos class D airspace without permission, but had coordinated my overflt with their tower. I was 2 mins from los alamitos when fullerton gave me a frequency change, and was very surprised to learn that the low activity los alamitos afrc was active at XA20.

Title: PLT OF AN SMA SEL ENTERED SLI CLASS D AIRSPACE WHILE ENRTE TO LGB DEST ARPT.
Narrative: DEPARTED FULLERTON ARPT VFR TO RETURN TO HOME BASE LGB AFTER FLT FROM NOVATO (DVO). AFTER TKOF FROM FULLERTON AND A TURN SOUTHWARD, I CONTACTED LGB TWR APPROX 5 MI NE OF SLI VOR. LGB TWR ADVISED I HAD ENTERED LOS ALAMITOS CLASS D AIRSPACE WITHOUT PERMISSION, BUT HAD COORDINATED MY OVERFLT WITH THEIR TWR. I WAS 2 MINS FROM LOS ALAMITOS WHEN FULLERTON GAVE ME A FREQ CHANGE, AND WAS VERY SURPRISED TO LEARN THAT THE LOW ACTIVITY LOS ALAMITOS AFRC WAS ACTIVE AT XA20.
