Narrative:

Departed ZZZ believing logbook had no open write-ups. On arrival in sfo, discovered that although first my log page was empty, a second page was stuck behind it with an open write-up for a 'small bird strike.' we called maintenance in sfo and alerted them to our situation. Several things contributed to this. The inbound flight to ZZZ was an international arrival. Maintenance does not consistently meet those flts making it easier to overlook write-ups. Secondly, the inbound captain made the write-up on a log page other than the first open one and we didn't look past the first open page.
