Narrative:

On climb out of lax, flight attendant #3 told me there was smoke in the cabin. I looked to see the smoke, and immediately called the cockpit. The captain advised me that we would return to lax. We landed and did not evacuate/evacuation. Flight attendants #2 and #4 said they were nauseous from the fumes and removed themselves from the trip. The aircraft was taken OTS in lax. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: the reporter stated that the captain tried to clear the air, thinking it was dirty 'socks' that covers the vents, throwing dirty particles out into the air. Since that wasn't it, the captain decided to return to lax and maintenance couldn't figure out the source of the smoke without a lot of testing, so they brought in another plane. The 2 flight attendants who got sick from the fumes were sitting in the back, where the smoke was the most concentrated. The passenger seemed to be very calm and none of them appeared to be sick from the fumes.

Title: MULTIPLE CABIN ATTENDANT RPT, S80, LAX-DFW. ON CLBOUT, SMOKE IN CABIN. CAPT RETURN LAX. FLT CANCELED. PLANE TAKEN OTS FOR MAINT. 2 CABIN ATTENDANTS SICK FROM FUMES.

Narrative: ON CLB OUT OF LAX, FLT ATTENDANT #3 TOLD ME THERE WAS SMOKE IN THE CABIN. I LOOKED TO SEE THE SMOKE, AND IMMEDIATELY CALLED THE COCKPIT. THE CAPT ADVISED ME THAT WE WOULD RETURN TO LAX. WE LANDED AND DID NOT EVAC. FLT ATTENDANTS #2 AND #4 SAID THEY WERE NAUSEOUS FROM THE FUMES AND REMOVED THEMSELVES FROM THE TRIP. THE ACFT WAS TAKEN OTS IN LAX. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: THE RPTR STATED THAT THE CAPT TRIED TO CLR THE AIR, THINKING IT WAS DIRTY 'SOCKS' THAT COVERS THE VENTS, THROWING DIRTY PARTICLES OUT INTO THE AIR. SINCE THAT WASN'T IT, THE CAPT DECIDED TO RETURN TO LAX AND MAINT COULDN'T FIGURE OUT THE SOURCE OF THE SMOKE WITHOUT A LOT OF TESTING, SO THEY BROUGHT IN ANOTHER PLANE. THE 2 FLT ATTENDANTS WHO GOT SICK FROM THE FUMES WERE SITTING IN THE BACK, WHERE THE SMOKE WAS THE MOST CONCENTRATED. THE PAX SEEMED TO BE VERY CALM AND NONE OF THEM APPEARED TO BE SICK FROM THE FUMES.
