Narrative:
Just after takeoff, the so realized that he did not have the aircraft logbook. He said that he had made a mental note while preflting the panel, but that during the hectic confusion just prior to departure, he had forgotten to check if the logbook was brought up to the cockpit. I neglected to xchk the logbook as I should have. The confusion was caused by 4 cockpit omc's showing up for 2 seats. During climb, the so used ACARS to get a 'paper logbook' with a new mrd and we proceeded on to sfo. I should have stuck to my routine before pushback and asked about the logbook. Supplemental information from acn 482927: ramp called us 8 mins early for pushback. We accomplished our checklist and called for push clearance. Despite the confusion at the gate we should have ensured all the papers, logbook, and fuel were on the aircraft. From now on, I will ensure 'departure briefing' includes these items even if it isn't current company policy.

Title: ACR DEPARTS WITHOUT LOGBOOK ON BOARD.
Narrative: JUST AFTER TKOF, THE SO REALIZED THAT HE DID NOT HAVE THE ACFT LOGBOOK. HE SAID THAT HE HAD MADE A MENTAL NOTE WHILE PREFLTING THE PANEL, BUT THAT DURING THE HECTIC CONFUSION JUST PRIOR TO DEP, HE HAD FORGOTTEN TO CHK IF THE LOGBOOK WAS BROUGHT UP TO THE COCKPIT. I NEGLECTED TO XCHK THE LOGBOOK AS I SHOULD HAVE. THE CONFUSION WAS CAUSED BY 4 COCKPIT OMC'S SHOWING UP FOR 2 SEATS. DURING CLB, THE SO USED ACARS TO GET A 'PAPER LOGBOOK' WITH A NEW MRD AND WE PROCEEDED ON TO SFO. I SHOULD HAVE STUCK TO MY ROUTINE BEFORE PUSHBACK AND ASKED ABOUT THE LOGBOOK. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 482927: RAMP CALLED US 8 MINS EARLY FOR PUSHBACK. WE ACCOMPLISHED OUR CHKLIST AND CALLED FOR PUSH CLRNC. DESPITE THE CONFUSION AT THE GATE WE SHOULD HAVE ENSURED ALL THE PAPERS, LOGBOOK, AND FUEL WERE ON THE ACFT. FROM NOW ON, I WILL ENSURE 'DEP BRIEFING' INCLUDES THESE ITEMS EVEN IF IT ISN'T CURRENT COMPANY POLICY.
