Narrative:
We taxied off the gate. Shortly afterward, flight attendant called and said a passenger wanted off. Taxied back to gate. Passenger said wanted off airplane due to a crying child. Captain told her she could situation anywhere else (only 9 passenger on board). The woman said no, she just wanted off. She got off and her bags were removed. We taxied back off the gate and as we neared the runway the captain and I had our doubts about the woman's behavior and grew concerned about something she may have left on board. Tower was notified that we needed to taxi to a secure area. Several exchanges later with no progress toward a secure area, we declared an emergency, shut down and evacuate/evacuationed the passenger. No devices were found and several hours later we continued the flight from clt to mgm. Supplemental information from acn 484990: I told flight attendant to send passenger up to talk to me. I may or may not have violated sterile cockpit by doing this -- I thought since I was on the ramp it was ok to invite passenger to cockpit. Woman still wanted off, so I took her back to the gate. Taxied back off gate. Started to think that she may have planted a bomb on aircraft. Declared an emergency and evacuate/evacuationed passenger. Canine unit sniffed down aircraft. If situation were to ever occur again, I would taxi back to gate and then talk to passenger.

Title: A DHC8 FLC ORDERS THE EVAC OF THE ACFT WHEN CREW FEELS THAT A DEPARTED PAX MAY HAVE LEFT SOMETHING ON THE FLT AT CLT, NC.
Narrative: WE TAXIED OFF THE GATE. SHORTLY AFTERWARD, FLT ATTENDANT CALLED AND SAID A PAX WANTED OFF. TAXIED BACK TO GATE. PAX SAID WANTED OFF AIRPLANE DUE TO A CRYING CHILD. CAPT TOLD HER SHE COULD SIT ANYWHERE ELSE (ONLY 9 PAX ON BOARD). THE WOMAN SAID NO, SHE JUST WANTED OFF. SHE GOT OFF AND HER BAGS WERE REMOVED. WE TAXIED BACK OFF THE GATE AND AS WE NEARED THE RWY THE CAPT AND I HAD OUR DOUBTS ABOUT THE WOMAN'S BEHAVIOR AND GREW CONCERNED ABOUT SOMETHING SHE MAY HAVE LEFT ON BOARD. TWR WAS NOTIFIED THAT WE NEEDED TO TAXI TO A SECURE AREA. SEVERAL EXCHANGES LATER WITH NO PROGRESS TOWARD A SECURE AREA, WE DECLARED AN EMER, SHUT DOWN AND EVACED THE PAX. NO DEVICES WERE FOUND AND SEVERAL HRS LATER WE CONTINUED THE FLT FROM CLT TO MGM. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 484990: I TOLD FLT ATTENDANT TO SEND PAX UP TO TALK TO ME. I MAY OR MAY NOT HAVE VIOLATED STERILE COCKPIT BY DOING THIS -- I THOUGHT SINCE I WAS ON THE RAMP IT WAS OK TO INVITE PAX TO COCKPIT. WOMAN STILL WANTED OFF, SO I TOOK HER BACK TO THE GATE. TAXIED BACK OFF GATE. STARTED TO THINK THAT SHE MAY HAVE PLANTED A BOMB ON ACFT. DECLARED AN EMER AND EVACED PAX. CANINE UNIT SNIFFED DOWN ACFT. IF SIT WERE TO EVER OCCUR AGAIN, I WOULD TAXI BACK TO GATE AND THEN TALK TO PAX.
