Narrative:
I was cleared to land on 32R. Another aircraft was behind me cleared for 32L. During my roll out I was cleared to 'turn off at the next intersection' I chose left because I am based on the west side of ccr. The next intersection was the north end of 32L (our short runway). There are no hold short markings there. I entered 32L and back taxied. The tower operator asked the following aircraft to go around, but the pilot said not necessary. I realized that I should have asked 'left turn out ok?'. Callback conversation with the reporter revealed the following information: the reporter indicated that his turn off was on taxi way 'east' or possibly the unmarked taxi way between 'east' and the end of the runway. The condition of the surface markings is poor in this as well as most other areas of the airport. He did not notice or take note of what was there and, since he normally lands on runway 32L. He taxied directly to the ramp. The approaching aircraft to lnd on 32L was given clearance to go around, but refused since there was plenty of spacing and the reporter was clear of the runway before it was necessary. Tower approved.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: RWY INCURSION AT CONCORD, CA. NO APPARENT HOLD SHORT MARKINGS AT THE APCH END OF RWY 14R.
Narrative: I WAS CLEARED TO LAND ON 32R. ANOTHER ACFT WAS BEHIND ME CLEARED FOR 32L. DURING MY ROLL OUT I WAS CLEARED TO 'TURN OFF AT THE NEXT INTXN' I CHOSE LEFT BECAUSE I AM BASED ON THE WEST SIDE OF CCR. THE NEXT INTXN WAS THE NORTH END OF 32L (OUR SHORT RWY). THERE ARE NO HOLD SHORT MARKINGS THERE. I ENTERED 32L AND BACK TAXIED. THE TWR OPERATOR ASKED THE FOLLOWING ACFT TO GAR, BUT THE PILOT SAID NOT NECESSARY. I REALIZED THAT I SHOULD HAVE ASKED 'LEFT TURN OUT OK?'. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH THE REPORTER REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: THE REPORTER INDICATED THAT HIS TURN OFF WAS ON TAXI WAY 'E' OR POSSIBLY THE UNMARKED TAXI WAY BTWN 'E' AND THE END OF THE RWY. THE CONDITION OF THE SURFACE MARKINGS IS POOR IN THIS AS WELL AS MOST OTHER AREAS OF THE ARPT. HE DID NOT NOTICE OR TAKE NOTE OF WHAT WAS THERE AND, SINCE HE NORMALLY LANDS ON RWY 32L. HE TAXIED DIRECTLY TO THE RAMP. THE APPROACHING ACFT TO LND ON 32L WAS GIVEN CLRNC TO GAR, BUT REFUSED SINCE THERE WAS PLENTY OF SPACING AND THE REPORTER WAS CLEAR OF THE RWY BEFORE IT WAS NECESSARY. TWR APPROVED.
