Narrative:
MEL 21-5A was existing on aircraft xyz. I was called by ZZZ maintenance and told that the captain wanted to change the MEL to 21-5B. I changed the MEL reference to 21-5B. After careful reading of the MEL 21-5B, I realized I couldn't do this and notified dispatch and ZZZ maintenance of same. After dispatch notification, I changed entry back to MEL 21-5A.

Narrative: MEL 21-5A WAS EXISTING ON ACFT XYZ. I WAS CALLED BY ZZZ MAINT AND TOLD THAT THE CAPT WANTED TO CHANGE THE MEL TO 21-5B. I CHANGED THE MEL REF TO 21-5B. AFTER CAREFUL READING OF THE MEL 21-5B, I REALIZED I COULDN'T DO THIS AND NOTIFIED DISPATCH AND ZZZ MAINT OF SAME. AFTER DISPATCH NOTIFICATION, I CHANGED ENTRY BACK TO MEL 21-5A.
