Narrative:

At 1500 AGL aircraft retrimmed following noise abatement and flaps retracted, engine 2 failure no fire light with 3 pops compressor stall noise. Engine rolled to 10 percent RPM, engine fire and severe checklist accomplished. Flight attendant's reported flame as checklist was being run. Flame was extinguished after fire bottle discharge no fire light came on during shutdown of engine. Aircraft emergency declared and aircraft recovered to mia flight duration 11 mins. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: the reporter stated the engine was a G.east. CF6-80c2 engine and maintenance reported the failure was a turbine blade in the high press turbine area. The reporter said the engine had three consecutive stalls causing the aircraft to yaw each time and after the third stall the engine spooled down to 10 percent N1. The reporter said the crew was in the engine shutdown procedures when a flight attendant alerted them to the engine fire. The reporter stated at no time did the #2 engine fire warning system give any warning. The reporter said the fire bottles were discharged and extinguished the fire. The reporter was also advised by maintenance the N2 rotor was seized.

Title: AN AIRBUS 300 ON INITIAL CLB AT 1500 FT DECLARED AN EMER AND DIVERTED DUE TO #2 ENG SEVERE STALLS, LOSS OF PWR, AND FIRE CAUSED BY A FAILED TURBINE BLADE.

Narrative: AT 1500 AGL ACFT RETRIMMED FOLLOWING NOISE ABATEMENT AND FLAPS RETRACTED, ENG 2 FAILURE NO FIRE LIGHT WITH 3 POPS COMPRESSOR STALL NOISE. ENG ROLLED TO 10 PERCENT RPM, ENG FIRE AND SEVERE CHKLIST ACCOMPLISHED. FA'S RPTED FLAME AS CHKLIST WAS BEING RUN. FLAME WAS EXTINGUISHED AFTER FIRE BOTTLE DISCHARGE NO FIRE LIGHT CAME ON DURING SHUTDOWN OF ENG. ACFT EMER DECLARED AND ACFT RECOVERED TO MIA FLT DURATION 11 MINS. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: THE RPTR STATED THE ENG WAS A G.E. CF6-80C2 ENG AND MAINT RPTED THE FAILURE WAS A TURBINE BLADE IN THE HIGH PRESS TURBINE AREA. THE RPTR SAID THE ENG HAD THREE CONSECUTIVE STALLS CAUSING THE ACFT TO YAW EACH TIME AND AFTER THE THIRD STALL THE ENG SPOOLED DOWN TO 10 PERCENT N1. THE RPTR SAID THE CREW WAS IN THE ENG SHUTDOWN PROCS WHEN A FA ALERTED THEM TO THE ENG FIRE. THE RPTR STATED AT NO TIME DID THE #2 ENG FIRE WARNING SYS GIVE ANY WARNING. THE RPTR SAID THE FIRE BOTTLES WERE DISCHARGED AND EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE. THE RPTR WAS ALSO ADVISED BY MAINT THE N2 ROTOR WAS SEIZED.
