Inside aft cargo bin, found metal patch and speed tape missing from previous time limited repair -- bonded new metal patch and speed tape damaged area in accordance with engineering order (type I repair). Made log record type I repair. After further reading, discovered should have made type ii repair (blind rivet repair) when previous time limited repair metal patch is found missing.

Title: A B757-200 AFT CARGO BIN REPAIR WAS INADVERTENTLY REPAIRED USING THE WRONG ENGINEERING ORDER. REPAIRED PER TYPE I REPAIR, BUT REQUIRED TYPE II.
Narrative: INSIDE AFT CARGO BIN, FOUND METAL PATCH AND SPD TAPE MISSING FROM PREVIOUS TIME LIMITED REPAIR -- BONDED NEW METAL PATCH AND SPD TAPE DAMAGED AREA IN ACCORDANCE WITH ENGINEERING ORDER (TYPE I REPAIR). MADE LOG RECORD TYPE I REPAIR. AFTER FURTHER READING, DISCOVERED SHOULD HAVE MADE TYPE II REPAIR (BLIND RIVET REPAIR) WHEN PREVIOUS TIME LIMITED REPAIR METAL PATCH IS FOUND MISSING.
