Narrative:
ZDC cleared us for a visual approach into lwb but did not xfer us to lwb local control. At approximately 6 NM from lwb, I asked the right seat pilot to ask ZDC if they wanted us to call lwb tower. Center sounded a little surprised and immediately turned us over to lwb tower, just as we were reaching a point abeam to the southeast of bushi LOM, 5 NM from the end of runway 4. When lwb tower answered our call, the controller said he had us in sight on a 2 mi final. At that moment we were too busy to question his distance measurement until after landing for safety reasons. We were cleared to land and landed without incident. Taxiing back, the controller berated us for not calling sooner and later threatened to file a violation. Taxiing out for departure the next day the same controller requested a phone number on ground control and said he was 'pulling the tapes.'

Title: FLC OF A BRITISH HAWKER, I25-700, ENTERED CLASS D AIRSPACE PRIOR TO OBTAINING CLRNC.
Narrative: ZDC CLRED US FOR A VISUAL APCH INTO LWB BUT DID NOT XFER US TO LWB LCL CTL. AT APPROX 6 NM FROM LWB, I ASKED THE R SEAT PLT TO ASK ZDC IF THEY WANTED US TO CALL LWB TWR. CTR SOUNDED A LITTLE SURPRISED AND IMMEDIATELY TURNED US OVER TO LWB TWR, JUST AS WE WERE REACHING A POINT ABEAM TO THE SE OF BUSHI LOM, 5 NM FROM THE END OF RWY 4. WHEN LWB TWR ANSWERED OUR CALL, THE CTLR SAID HE HAD US IN SIGHT ON A 2 MI FINAL. AT THAT MOMENT WE WERE TOO BUSY TO QUESTION HIS DISTANCE MEASUREMENT UNTIL AFTER LNDG FOR SAFETY REASONS. WE WERE CLRED TO LAND AND LANDED WITHOUT INCIDENT. TAXIING BACK, THE CTLR BERATED US FOR NOT CALLING SOONER AND LATER THREATENED TO FILE A VIOLATION. TAXIING OUT FOR DEP THE NEXT DAY THE SAME CTLR REQUESTED A PHONE NUMBER ON GND CTL AND SAID HE WAS 'PULLING THE TAPES.'
