Narrative:
Cleared to fly SJN1. Sjn departure. After takeoff procedures to turn to heading 020 degrees, approximately 2 miles after pxr VOR instead of 4 NM as per SID, a heading of 080 degrees was given by ATC and declared to join the SJN1 departure (054 degree radial direct sjn). Had we made sure that one pilot had verified raw data instead of RNAV, we would have had a better situational awareness on the departure procedure.
