Told to intercept GS for ILS runway 17C at dfw and to descend and maintain 4000 ft until established, cleared for ILS approach. We started our descent and intercepted the localizer and proceeded the approach when approach control told us we needed to maintain 5000 ft. We descended back to 5000 ft and held the approach
