Narrative:
After doing a touch-and-go on patrick AFB runway 20, I entered a left downwind at 2000 ft MSL. An air carrier Y MD80 passed in front of me from right to left, heading northwest. He was approximately 500 ft above my altitude and climbing. I don't know if he saw me. I saw no maneuvering by him. I'm guessing he had just taken off from the melbourne, fl, airport heading to the east, but turned northwest too soon. He didn't climb fast enough to be above patrick AFB's air traffic area.
