Narrative:
Cleared on a visual approach to mem international runway 18R by approach control. Did not received radio handoff to tower. Remained on approach control frequency. Realized late (less than 1000 ft AGL). Tried to contact tower just prior to touchdown. Tower gave green light to us due to no radio contact. Acknowledged receipt of green light clearing the runway after landing. Change to tower earlier even if approach does not give handoff, on visual approach.

Title: LNDG MEM, DC9 FLC RECOGNIZE XFER FROM MEM APCH WAS NOT COMPLETED, AND TRYING TO ESTABLISH COM WITH MEM TWR, OBSERVE CTLR LIGHT GUN SIGNAL.
Narrative: CLRED ON A VISUAL APCH TO MEM INTL RWY 18R BY APCH CTL. DID NOT RECEIVED RADIO HDOF TO TWR. REMAINED ON APCH CTL FREQ. REALIZED LATE (LESS THAN 1000 FT AGL). TRIED TO CONTACT TWR JUST PRIOR TO TOUCHDOWN. TWR GAVE GREEN LIGHT TO US DUE TO NO RADIO CONTACT. ACKNOWLEDGED RECEIPT OF GREEN LIGHT CLRING THE RWY AFTER LNDG. CHANGE TO TWR EARLIER EVEN IF APCH DOES NOT GIVE HDOF, ON VISUAL APCH.
