Narrative:
Flight was VFR from granbury, tx, to austin, tx. WX was not a factor. To avoid restr airspace for the army's fort hood complex, a dogleg route was flown with a turn point over temple VOR. Cruising altitude was 3500 ft MSL. During vectors to a visual ILS runway 17L, the controller said 'for a possible pilot deviation, give me your name, full call sign and telephone number.' I asked him to repeat his request. I replied with my call sign and asked for his phone number so that we could talk after I landed. He repeated his request twice and I returned the same response. He then gave me a frequency change. The new controller idented himself as a supervisor and again asked for my information. I gave him my phone number and asked for his so that we could talk on the ground. During our conversation (on the phone), he said that grey approach (hood aaf) had idented my aircraft as having flown through restr airspace established by a temporary NOTAM over president bush's ranch in crawford, tx. I asked where crawford, tx, was and he described it as the 240 degree radial for 15 NM from waco VOR. I think that the NOTAM system is a good idea, but it is broken. There are way too many NOTAMS to sift through. Something of this magnitude deserves wider exposure. We got a massive media campaign when the airspace around dfw changed. We get periodic notices sent to our home addresses about coming safety meetings. I did not find any bulletins posted at the FBO in austin in the pilot planning room. I was also unable to get through to a briefer when I called FSS for my return flight. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: reporter states that he has flown the route to aus many times in his BE35. He said it was a very clear day and decided to fly VFR to his destination. He said he received a flyer from the FAA after the closure describing the new restr area. He said other pilots he knew also received the notices late. He was contacted by the FAA to attend a 2-HR training course on NOTAMS as a result.

Title: PLT IN A BE35 INADVERTENTLY FLEW THROUGH P49 RESTR AREA ON VFR FLT FROM F55 TO AUS.

THE NEW CTLR IDENTED HIMSELF AS A SUPVR AND AGAIN ASKED FOR MY INFO. I GAVE HIM MY PHONE NUMBER AND ASKED FOR HIS SO THAT WE COULD TALK ON THE GND. DURING OUR CONVERSATION (ON THE PHONE), HE SAID THAT GREY APCH (HOOD AAF) HAD IDENTED MY ACFT AS HAVING FLOWN THROUGH RESTR AIRSPACE ESTABLISHED BY A TEMPORARY NOTAM OVER PRESIDENT BUSH'S RANCH IN CRAWFORD, TX. I WAS ALSO UNABLE TO GET THROUGH TO A BRIEFER WHEN I CALLED FSS FOR MY RETURN FLT. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: RPTR STATES THAT HE HAS FLOWN THE RTE TO AUS MANY TIMES IN HIS BE35. HE SAID IT WAS A VERY CLR DAY AND DECIDED TO FLY VFR TO HIS DEST. HE SAID HE RECEIVED A FLYER FROM THE FAA AFTER THE CLOSURE DESCRIBING THE NEW RESTR AREA. HE SAID OTHER PLTS HE KNEW ALSO RECEIVED THE NOTICES LATE. HE WAS CONTACTED BY THE FAA TO ATTEND A 2-HR TRAINING COURSE ON NOTAMS AS A RESULT.
