Narrative:
Given 16000 ft and 280 KTS at fuzzy intersection. Started down late and although our speed was 280 KTS, at FL200 it was clear we would not make the altitude at fuzzy. We requested relief from the crossing restr at fuzzy and ZLA switched us to las approach control. Las approach then granted us relief and told us to descend and maintain 16000 ft. Normal approach and landing into las from that point was made.

Title: AN S80 FLC FAILS TO START THEIR DSCNT IN TIME TO COMPLY WITH AN ALT XING RESTR NW OF LAS, NV.
Narrative: GIVEN 16000 FT AND 280 KTS AT FUZZY INTXN. STARTED DOWN LATE AND ALTHOUGH OUR SPD WAS 280 KTS, AT FL200 IT WAS CLR WE WOULD NOT MAKE THE ALT AT FUZZY. WE REQUESTED RELIEF FROM THE XING RESTR AT FUZZY AND ZLA SWITCHED US TO LAS APCH CTL. LAS APCH THEN GRANTED US RELIEF AND TOLD US TO DSND AND MAINTAIN 16000 FT. NORMAL APCH AND LNDG INTO LAS FROM THAT POINT WAS MADE.
