Narrative:
Flight release had no MEL's or cdl's. ATC gave us a rerte that was different than our original flight plan and we had to reprogram the GPS. Verifying the new clearance with dispatch and reprogramming the GPS took extra time and attention during preflight. Somehow, the logbook was removed and missed in our final preflight. To prevent a recurrence, I suggest a specific holder in the cockpit for the logbook, because our aircraft has no specific location for the logbook.
