Narrative:
Flight attendant reported fine mist and strong odor in the cabin causing eye and respiratory irritation shortly after takeoff from las. We initiated an immediate return. Our flight landed overweight on runway 25R at las, 14500 ft, and proceeded normally to the gate. Landing weight 134500 pounds, flap 28 degrees with a normal touchdown and light braking initiated below 100 KTS. Paramedics were requested and met the aircraft at the gate. I am not aware of any health problems reported beyond temporary irritation. I did not consider our situation a threat to safety due to immediate approach clearance so did not declare an emergency. However, a review of part 1 reminded me that overweight landing is deemed an emergency.

Title: AN S80 PIC RETURNS LANDS WHEN THE FLT ATTENDANT DETECTS FUMES IN CABIN AFTER TKOF FROM LAS, NV.
Narrative: FLT ATTENDANT RPTED FINE MIST AND STRONG ODOR IN THE CABIN CAUSING EYE AND RESPIRATORY IRRITATION SHORTLY AFTER TKOF FROM LAS. WE INITIATED AN IMMEDIATE RETURN. OUR FLT LANDED OVERWT ON RWY 25R AT LAS, 14500 FT, AND PROCEEDED NORMALLY TO THE GATE. LNDG WT 134500 LBS, FLAP 28 DEGS WITH A NORMAL TOUCHDOWN AND LIGHT BRAKING INITIATED BELOW 100 KTS. PARAMEDICS WERE REQUESTED AND MET THE ACFT AT THE GATE. I AM NOT AWARE OF ANY HEALTH PROBS RPTED BEYOND TEMPORARY IRRITATION. I DID NOT CONSIDER OUR SIT A THREAT TO SAFETY DUE TO IMMEDIATE APCH CLRNC SO DID NOT DECLARE AN EMER. HOWEVER, A REVIEW OF PART 1 REMINDED ME THAT OVERWT LNDG IS DEEMED AN EMER.
