Narrative:

At the end of a training flight, which lasted about 1 hour, we entered the traffic pattern for touch and goes. After several lndgs, a full stop was requested. ATC offered the choice of runway 22R or 18. Since we were already in the pattern for runway 18, and the winds favored runway 18, we chose to stay on runway 18. Abeam the fixed distance markers, ATC stated that traffic was on a 4 mi final and we could extend downwind or make short approach. A short approach was made and we landed on runway 14R. This was realized shortly after exiting the runway. Contributing factors included, the late decision to make short approach and a self imposed desire to make the early exit off the runway. Both of which lead to a lack of concentration, which resulted in lining up for and landing on the wrong runway. The incursion could have been prevented by placing a greater focus on my own aircraft's situation/position and less concern about landing short to make a quick exit, or extending the downwind and not rushing the landing.

Title: PA28 INSTRUCTOR BECOMES DISTRACTED IN HOW HE WANTS TO EXIT THE RWY BECAUSE OF OTHER LNDG TFC AND LANDS ON THE WRONG RWY.

Narrative: AT THE END OF A TRAINING FLT, WHICH LASTED ABOUT 1 HR, WE ENTERED THE TFC PATTERN FOR TOUCH AND GOES. AFTER SEVERAL LNDGS, A FULL STOP WAS REQUESTED. ATC OFFERED THE CHOICE OF RWY 22R OR 18. SINCE WE WERE ALREADY IN THE PATTERN FOR RWY 18, AND THE WINDS FAVORED RWY 18, WE CHOSE TO STAY ON RWY 18. ABEAM THE FIXED DISTANCE MARKERS, ATC STATED THAT TFC WAS ON A 4 MI FINAL AND WE COULD EXTEND DOWNWIND OR MAKE SHORT APCH. A SHORT APCH WAS MADE AND WE LANDED ON RWY 14R. THIS WAS REALIZED SHORTLY AFTER EXITING THE RWY. CONTRIBUTING FACTORS INCLUDED, THE LATE DECISION TO MAKE SHORT APCH AND A SELF IMPOSED DESIRE TO MAKE THE EARLY EXIT OFF THE RWY. BOTH OF WHICH LEAD TO A LACK OF CONCENTRATION, WHICH RESULTED IN LINING UP FOR AND LNDG ON THE WRONG RWY. THE INCURSION COULD HAVE BEEN PREVENTED BY PLACING A GREATER FOCUS ON MY OWN ACFT'S SIT/POS AND LESS CONCERN ABOUT LNDG SHORT TO MAKE A QUICK EXIT, OR EXTENDING THE DOWNWIND AND NOT RUSHING THE LNDG.
