Narrative:

Lapse in automatic updates from ZZZ AWOS resulted in WX more than 1 hour old for arrival of flight. Dfw-ZZZ. Toward end of my shift went to check WX and forecast per flight following responsibilities. This done at XD15Z. I discovered latest ZZZ 'sa' [record observation] was dtg xxxxxx. Called ZZZ operations and advised csm to update 'sa' [record observation] since automatic updates not being received. She advised that she would comply. Checked WX again at XD20Z. Discovered that field conditions report had been updated vice surveillance approach. Called ZZZ operations back again and csm got operations agent to talk to me. He seemed unsure of the procedure to update ZZZ WX, so I described the facts concerning the lack of automatic updates and how he must input them hourly for our flight operations. Friendly discussion ended with his assurance to me that he would take care of it. Next step to advise facility manager of AWOS malfunction in ZZZ.

CALLED ZZZ OPS BACK AGAIN AND CSM GOT OPS AGENT TO TALK TO ME.
