Narrative:
Approached dca from the south (originated rdu). Turned onto river visual by ATC runway 19 at approximately 5000 ft and approximately 7 mi out. Slowed aircraft, gear down, flaps 40 degrees -- too high for runway 19. ATC tower offered runway 22. We elected to land runway 22 (4911 ft) instead of making a go around from low altitude. Prohibited airspace, high traffic density in vicinity of airport contributed to this decision.

Title: B737-300 FLC LANDED ON RWY OF INSUFFICIENT LENGTH DUE TO ATC HANDLING ON VISUAL APCH REQUIRED RPTR TO BE TOO HIGH TO SAFELY LAND ON INTENDED RWY AND ATC HAD OFFERED ANOTHER RWY.
