Narrative:
We were at cruise serving beverages to go with snack in main cabin. We had reached the passenger forward of aft galley when we felt the plane tilt left. A passenger screamed. I asked if something was wrong. She only said the sudden movement had frightened her. I assured her everything was alright. No sooner had I spoken and I felt the plane begin to descend. A bell from the cockpit explained the overheat duct warning light on the left engine was on then off. We were to land in msy because he did not want to be over the gulf with no place to land if it continued to overheat. The captain made an announcement and explained fire trucks were to meet us just in case. But he assured the passenger it would most likely be a normal landing. It was normal and soon after the captain explained that everything went well.
