Narrative:

The fai ATIS was calling for visual approach runway 19R with the south 2050 ft of the runway closed. Wind was calm, we were coming from panc (south) and approach gave us our choice of runways. I was PNF and would have chosen runway 19R as we were really high and I like to not have to hurry to get down (B757 is hard to get down -- slow flap speeds and not great spoilers). Captain wanted straight-in to runway 1L, which now meant the first 2050 ft of the runway were closed. I told him he would not have a GS and he was confused by this and started dinking around on the FMC while we got higher and higher. I looked out the window and pointed out to him the runway and told him we looked high to me. He told me he planned this because he didn't want to land in the first 2050 ft. I said 'at this rate you may land in the last 2050 ft.' long story short, he asked me about the GS status at least twice more. I explained that it wouldn't work on this end and use the 3:1 rule (we were very high). Long story short: we crossed the threshold at 500 ft radio altitude and he started a 1500 FPM descent which got the GPWS going off. I told him to go around but he did not (out company procedures require it). I considered taking the plane from him, but thought that an unwanted change of control with him fighting me could be even more dangerous. I would have done so but the runway is +/-1200 ft long and it was daylight.

Title: THE CAPT OF A B752 HIGH AND UNSTABLE ON THE APCH TO PAFA DECIDED TO LAND INSTEAD OF HEEDING HIS FO'S ADVICE TO GAR.

Narrative: THE FAI ATIS WAS CALLING FOR VISUAL APCH RWY 19R WITH THE S 2050 FT OF THE RWY CLOSED. WIND WAS CALM, WE WERE COMING FROM PANC (S) AND APCH GAVE US OUR CHOICE OF RWYS. I WAS PNF AND WOULD HAVE CHOSEN RWY 19R AS WE WERE REALLY HIGH AND I LIKE TO NOT HAVE TO HURRY TO GET DOWN (B757 IS HARD TO GET DOWN -- SLOW FLAP SPDS AND NOT GREAT SPOILERS). CAPT WANTED STRAIGHT-IN TO RWY 1L, WHICH NOW MEANT THE FIRST 2050 FT OF THE RWY WERE CLOSED. I TOLD HIM HE WOULD NOT HAVE A GS AND HE WAS CONFUSED BY THIS AND STARTED DINKING AROUND ON THE FMC WHILE WE GOT HIGHER AND HIGHER. I LOOKED OUT THE WINDOW AND POINTED OUT TO HIM THE RWY AND TOLD HIM WE LOOKED HIGH TO ME. LONG STORY SHORT: WE CROSSED THE THRESHOLD AT 500 FT RADIO ALT AND HE STARTED A 1500 FPM DSCNT WHICH GOT THE GPWS GOING OFF. I TOLD HIM TO GO AROUND BUT HE DID NOT (OUT COMPANY PROCS REQUIRE IT). I CONSIDERED TAKING THE PLANE FROM HIM, BUT THOUGHT THAT AN UNWANTED CHANGE OF CTL WITH HIM FIGHTING ME COULD BE EVEN MORE DANGEROUS. I WOULD HAVE DONE SO BUT THE RWY IS +/-1200 FT LONG AND IT WAS DAYLIGHT.
