Narrative:
We were on vectors for climb after departing runway 22R at ewr. Level at 6000 ft ATC pointed out VFR traffic 10 O'clock position. We received a traffic warning shortly thereafter followed by an RA to descend. We advised ATC and started the maneuver. The lowest altitude observed was 5800 ft as end of conflict announced very quickly. The traffic passed above and off our left wing. We returned to altitude and continued.
