Narrative:

ZLA issued us a clearance to cross 10 mi north of baret intersection at 10000 ft. I read back the clearance as I understood it (10 mi north of baret at 10000 ft). The captain completed the crossing restr and we were handed off to san diego approach control. San diego approach cleared us to a lower altitude and then asked us if we flew into san diego very much. We said yes and she indicated that the usual crossing restr 10 mi north of baret was 12000 ft. She said there was no problem, but she wanted to let us know for future reference. We asked her if there had been a miscom and the approach controller told us that the center controller had thought he had issued us 12000 ft, 10 mi north of baret, but there were 'no problems.' she cleared us for the localizer runway 27 and handed us off the tower at swatt intersection.
