Narrative:

Pushed back from gate at phx and inadvertently blocked a portion of taxiway between spot X and taxiway. Halfway during pushback, a late bag showed up, so we stopped and loaded bag in forward bin. Meanwhile, company aircraft behind us (somewhere?) had also pushed and was ready to taxi. Apparently our pushed back position had partially blocked his future route (but not much). The tug driver got his tug in an awkward position, trying to turn the aircraft in a small maneuvering area. He had stopped at about a 135 degree angle, nosewheel right, and simply could not move any further due to proximity of numerous other ground equipment. Stopping halfway to load a bag complicated the maneuver due to the timing of the other company aircraft's push. Neither of us could see the other aircraft at this point, as he was behind us, and I frankly did not know where he was. We disconnected, called for taxi and I simultaneously started to move right slightly to clear taxiway after I heard ground tell us we were blocking company. He (company) offered to let us taxi first. (Actually, by maneuvering to the right quickly, I thought he had room to get around us, but the lag in communicating with ground precluded that.) ground control admonished us about 'blocking' taxiway but allowed us to taxi first and advised us next time to let them know if that happened. I guess this could have been avoided by just holding at that gate a little longer, to allow more maneuvering clearance, and to get the nuisance 'late bag' (we seem to have a lot of those) syndrome taken care of.

Title: A B737 FLT CREW AFTER PUSHBACK, BLOCKS TXWY WHILE WAITING FOR LATE BAGS.

Narrative: PUSHED BACK FROM GATE AT PHX AND INADVERTENTLY BLOCKED A PORTION OF TXWY BTWN SPOT X AND TXWY. HALFWAY DURING PUSHBACK, A LATE BAG SHOWED UP, SO WE STOPPED AND LOADED BAG IN FORWARD BIN. MEANWHILE, COMPANY ACFT BEHIND US (SOMEWHERE?) HAD ALSO PUSHED AND WAS READY TO TAXI. APPARENTLY OUR PUSHED BACK POS HAD PARTIALLY BLOCKED HIS FUTURE RTE (BUT NOT MUCH). THE TUG DRIVER GOT HIS TUG IN AN AWKWARD POS, TRYING TO TURN THE ACFT IN A SMALL MANEUVERING AREA. HE HAD STOPPED AT ABOUT A 135 DEG ANGLE, NOSEWHEEL R, AND SIMPLY COULD NOT MOVE ANY FURTHER DUE TO PROX OF NUMEROUS OTHER GND EQUIP. STOPPING HALFWAY TO LOAD A BAG COMPLICATED THE MANEUVER DUE TO THE TIMING OF THE OTHER COMPANY ACFT'S PUSH. NEITHER OF US COULD SEE THE OTHER ACFT AT THIS POINT, AS HE WAS BEHIND US, AND I FRANKLY DID NOT KNOW WHERE HE WAS. WE DISCONNECTED, CALLED FOR TAXI AND I SIMULTANEOUSLY STARTED TO MOVE R SLIGHTLY TO CLR TXWY AFTER I HEARD GND TELL US WE WERE BLOCKING COMPANY. HE (COMPANY) OFFERED TO LET US TAXI FIRST. (ACTUALLY, BY MANEUVERING TO THE R QUICKLY, I THOUGHT HE HAD ROOM TO GET AROUND US, BUT THE LAG IN COMMUNICATING WITH GND PRECLUDED THAT.) GND CTL ADMONISHED US ABOUT 'BLOCKING' TXWY BUT ALLOWED US TO TAXI FIRST AND ADVISED US NEXT TIME TO LET THEM KNOW IF THAT HAPPENED. I GUESS THIS COULD HAVE BEEN AVOIDED BY JUST HOLDING AT THAT GATE A LITTLE LONGER, TO ALLOW MORE MANEUVERING CLRNC, AND TO GET THE NUISANCE 'LATE BAG' (WE SEEM TO HAVE A LOT OF THOSE) SYNDROME TAKEN CARE OF.
