Narrative:

After receiving clearance to taxi to runway 16 from ground control at nrt, we were switched to nrt tower and told to hold short of runway 16. We acknowledged hold short runway 16. Aircraft landed on runway 16 and tower told us to taxi into position and hold. I acknowledged taxi into position and hold runway 16. As the captain began to advance power for taxi, he verified with both myself and the acting relief pilot, that we were cleared to taxi into position and hold. We both acknowledged yes to the taxi instructions given by the tower. Air carrier Y was on final when our instructions were given by the tower. The aircraft preceding air carrier Y cleared the runway 16 as we pulled on. After 30 to 45 seconds the captain asked the tower if we were cleared for takeoff. At that point it appeared the tower had forgotten us on the runway 16, and gave air carrier Y a clearance to go around. We then were given taxi clearance from tower to clear the active runway 16,by taxiing forward to A2 intersection make a left turn and proceed back to runway 16 holding short. We were then cleared again to taxi into position and hold. We again acknowledged the clearance, and proceeded to comply. Once on the runway 16 a takeoff clearance was given by the tower. We acknowledged the clearance and proceeded with our normal takeoff procedures.

ACFT LANDED ON RWY 16 AND TWR TOLD US TO TAXI INTO POS AND HOLD. I ACKNOWLEDGED TAXI INTO POS AND HOLD RWY 16. WE WERE THEN CLEARED AGAIN TO TAXI INTO POS AND HOLD. WE AGAIN ACKNOWLEDGED THE CLRNC, AND PROCEEDED TO COMPLY. ONCE ON THE RWY 16 A TKOF CLRNC WAS GIVEN BY THE TWR. WE ACKNOWLEDGED THE CLRNC AND PROCEEDED WITH OUR NORMAL TKOF PROCS.
