Narrative:

Approaching sayge intersection the aircraft encountered some significant turbulence. In an effort to minimize the pitching trend of the aircraft, vertical speed vice path descent was selected. The published speed at sayge was exceeded due to a late power reduction. No comment or reference to the airspeed was received from the approach controller. Slow response time partially attributable to very short layover with minimum crew rest.
