Narrative:
We were climbing through FL250 for FL270 when the right warning panel door light indicator appeared, followed by a triple chime. The door page showed the main passenger door was open. The pressurization started to rise at 650 FPM. We declared an emergency and diverted to tri cities, tn. Our original route was from knoxville, tn, to philadelphia, PA. We received emergency priority and landed uneventfully. We descended from FL250 to 10000 ft as soon as ATC cleared it. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: the reporter stated the aircraft was a dornier 328 and the equipment malfunction was a failed door sensor. The reporter said the sensor failed in the door open position which initiated depressurization of the aircraft.

CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: THE RPTR STATED THE ACFT WAS A DORNIER 328 AND THE EQUIP MALFUNCTION WAS A FAILED DOOR SENSOR. THE RPTR SAID THE SENSOR FAILED IN THE DOOR OPEN POS WHICH INITIATED DEPRESSURIZATION OF THE ACFT.
