Narrative:

I was captain on XXX airline and was taxiing out for takeoff on taxiway left for runway 17R. I was taxiing behind a company brasilia (EMB120) when tower cleared him for takeoff. He then called us and also cleared us for takeoff behind company. This did seem normal as I often get takeoff clrncs close behind departing traffic at busy airports. My first officer read back the clearance and I continued taxi onto the runway as company was departing and my first officer was running the checklist. I also turned on all external lights, except for landing lights (which I let the first officer turn on at the start of takeoff roll) to remind myself that we do have takeoff clearance. It was the first officer's turn to fly, so he started takeoff normal. 300 ft AGL above runway 17R, tower called us and asked us if we were aware that we took off without a takeoff clearance. I told him no, we had a takeoff clearance. He said ok. We continued departure and flight as normal to ZZZ.

Title: EMB120 CREW WAS ACCUSED OF TKOF WITHOUT CLRNC AT DFW.

Narrative: I WAS CAPT ON XXX AIRLINE AND WAS TAXIING OUT FOR TKOF ON TXWY L FOR RWY 17R. I WAS TAXIING BEHIND A COMPANY BRASILIA (EMB120) WHEN TWR CLRED HIM FOR TKOF. HE THEN CALLED US AND ALSO CLRED US FOR TKOF BEHIND COMPANY. THIS DID SEEM NORMAL AS I OFTEN GET TKOF CLRNCS CLOSE BEHIND DEPARTING TFC AT BUSY ARPTS. MY FO READ BACK THE CLRNC AND I CONTINUED TAXI ONTO THE RWY AS COMPANY WAS DEPARTING AND MY FO WAS RUNNING THE CHKLIST. I ALSO TURNED ON ALL EXTERNAL LIGHTS, EXCEPT FOR LNDG LIGHTS (WHICH I LET THE FO TURN ON AT THE START OF TKOF ROLL) TO REMIND MYSELF THAT WE DO HAVE TKOF CLRNC. IT WAS THE FO'S TURN TO FLY, SO HE STARTED TKOF NORMAL. 300 FT AGL ABOVE RWY 17R, TWR CALLED US AND ASKED US IF WE WERE AWARE THAT WE TOOK OFF WITHOUT A TKOF CLRNC. I TOLD HIM NO, WE HAD A TKOF CLRNC. HE SAID OK. WE CONTINUED DEP AND FLT AS NORMAL TO ZZZ.
