Narrative:

Smell of electrical fire. Shortly after takeoff from sjc I received 4 chimes from the cabin. I was flying so I let the first officer answer the interphone. He had a report from one of the flight attendants in the back of the airplane about a strong smell of electrical fire and at the same time the first officer said he could smell something as well. Decided to declare an emergency and return to sjc. Landing uneventful although overweight and returned to the gate. Made appropriate logbook entries and xferred to another airplane.
