Narrative:
Departed ZZZ1 at XA10 for VFR flight to ZZZ2. Pilot obtained briefing from flight service regarding WX, NOTAMS, etc. Briefing did not include the recent extension of restr area P49 (temporary). Pilot unknowingly flew through the extended portion of the temperature restr area. Intercepted by F16 and met by law enforcement officials at ZZZ2. Crew and all passenger were detained in flight operations building for several hours. Finally released by secret service at XJ30. The problem is, of course, the inability of the current system to disperse information regarding temperature restr areas on a timely basis. It would be quite possible for a temperature restr area to be implemented while an aircraft is en route and the aircraft could violate the airspace with no knowledge that the temperature restr airspace exists. In this case the pilot had all maps and charts on board. Obtained a briefing from flight service and simply did not receive any information about the temperature restr airspace.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: SMA PLT INADVERTENTLY ENTERED A TEMPORARY FLT RESTR AIRSPACE DURING A VFR CROSS COUNTRY FLT DUE TO NOT LEARNING OF THE EXTENDED AREA AROUND P49.
Narrative: DEPARTED ZZZ1 AT XA10 FOR VFR FLT TO ZZZ2. PLT OBTAINED BRIEFING FROM FLT SERVICE REGARDING WX, NOTAMS, ETC. BRIEFING DID NOT INCLUDE THE RECENT EXTENSION OF RESTR AREA P49 (TEMPORARY). PLT UNKNOWINGLY FLEW THROUGH THE EXTENDED PORTION OF THE TEMP RESTR AREA. INTERCEPTED BY F16 AND MET BY LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICIALS AT ZZZ2. CREW AND ALL PAX WERE DETAINED IN FLT OPS BUILDING FOR SEVERAL HRS. FINALLY RELEASED BY SECRET SERVICE AT XJ30. THE PROB IS, OF COURSE, THE INABILITY OF THE CURRENT SYSTEM TO DISPERSE INFO REGARDING TEMP RESTR AREAS ON A TIMELY BASIS. IT WOULD BE QUITE POSSIBLE FOR A TEMP RESTR AREA TO BE IMPLEMENTED WHILE AN ACFT IS ENRTE AND THE ACFT COULD VIOLATE THE AIRSPACE WITH NO KNOWLEDGE THAT THE TEMP RESTR AIRSPACE EXISTS. IN THIS CASE THE PLT HAD ALL MAPS AND CHARTS ON BOARD. OBTAINED A BRIEFING FROM FLT SERVICE AND SIMPLY DID NOT RECEIVE ANY INFO ABOUT THE TEMP RESTR AIRSPACE.
