Narrative:
SID on pre departure clearance and flight plan was hoover 1. On climb out, ATC cleared us (we thought) to wyldd intersection. Later, in conversation, the controller said he cleared us to idale intersection. This was not on our SID or flight plan. That is why we thought he said to wyldd, which was on our route of flight. I have seen quite a few times out of las vegas that departure control thought we were on a SID other than what we were given. I have seen this more at this airport than any other. I think this may have been the case this time. If it were not the case, then the controller should have offered more information. This was not the time to be groping around for charts to locate an intersection not on our route of flight.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: DEP CTLR AT LAS ATTEMPTS TO VECTOR AN A310 FLT TOWARDS IDALE INTXN WHEN THE FLT PLAN FILED CALLED FOR WYLDD INTXN AFTER DEP LAS, NV.
Narrative: SID ON PDC AND FLT PLAN WAS HOOVER 1. ON CLBOUT, ATC CLRED US (WE THOUGHT) TO WYLDD INTXN. LATER, IN CONVERSATION, THE CTLR SAID HE CLRED US TO IDALE INTXN. THIS WAS NOT ON OUR SID OR FLT PLAN. THAT IS WHY WE THOUGHT HE SAID TO WYLDD, WHICH WAS ON OUR RTE OF FLT. I HAVE SEEN QUITE A FEW TIMES OUT OF LAS VEGAS THAT DEP CTL THOUGHT WE WERE ON A SID OTHER THAN WHAT WE WERE GIVEN. I HAVE SEEN THIS MORE AT THIS ARPT THAN ANY OTHER. I THINK THIS MAY HAVE BEEN THE CASE THIS TIME. IF IT WERE NOT THE CASE, THEN THE CTLR SHOULD HAVE OFFERED MORE INFO. THIS WAS NOT THE TIME TO BE GROPING AROUND FOR CHARTS TO LOCATE AN INTXN NOT ON OUR RTE OF FLT.
