Narrative:
ATC facility: ZOB. Location: 80 NM east of detroit. Following hydraulic system #1 failure, autoplt was unable to maintain altitude. In the transition to manual control, we experienced a 400 ft altitude deviation. ZOB did not mention a traffic conflict or the altitude deviation. We declared an emergency after the altitude deviation.
