Narrative:
On feb/fri/02 I was assigned to a crew of 4 mechanics instructed to MEL the right thrust reverser on aircraft X. Due to time constraints, we had a crew 4 mechanics to expedite the task. Maintenance operations control asked us to use MEL 78-3001A with 1 mechanic reading the instructions and the rest of the crew on the engine we pinned the directional control valves and the locking actuators. At some point in the procedure we continued in the MEL book, which is at best 'misleading' into MEL 78-3001B. This MEL requires locking screws in the translating sleeve. I signed the logbook referencing MEL 3001A. At the next maintenance station, the maintenance crew removed the MEL procedures not noting the sleeve lock screws. When they operated the reverser the screws damaged the reverser.

Title: AN AIRBUS 320 WAS DISPATCHED IN NON COMPLIANCE WITH THE R THRUST REVERSER DEFERRED AND RENDERED INOP IN CONFLICT WITH THE MEL SPECIAL PROCS.
Narrative: ON FEB/FRI/02 I WAS ASSIGNED TO A CREW OF 4 MECHS INSTRUCTED TO MEL THE R THRUST REVERSER ON ACFT X. DUE TO TIME CONSTRAINTS, WE HAD A CREW 4 MECHS TO EXPEDITE THE TASK. MAINT OPS CTL ASKED US TO USE MEL 78-3001A WITH 1 MECH READING THE INSTRUCTIONS AND THE REST OF THE CREW ON THE ENG WE PINNED THE DIRECTIONAL CTL VALVES AND THE LOCKING ACTUATORS. AT SOME POINT IN THE PROC WE CONTINUED IN THE MEL BOOK, WHICH IS AT BEST 'MISLEADING' INTO MEL 78-3001B. THIS MEL REQUIRES LOCKING SCREWS IN THE TRANSLATING SLEEVE. I SIGNED THE LOGBOOK REFING MEL 3001A. AT THE NEXT MAINT STATION, THE MAINT CREW REMOVED THE MEL PROCS NOT NOTING THE SLEEVE LOCK SCREWS. WHEN THEY OPERATED THE REVERSER THE SCREWS DAMAGED THE REVERSER.
