Narrative:
While we were working the beverage cart in main cabin, a passenger told the #2 flight attendant that he saw liquid on the left wing. The #2 reported to the captain and he sent the first officer to check the wings. After he went back, the captain also came back to check the wings while the #2 stayed in the cockpit each time. The captain called back and let us know we were going to land in rdu because we had a fuel leak. He told the #2 flight attendant the planned emergency checklist would not be necessary. When we landed in rdu, fire trucks escorted us to the gate, but nothing happened to the aircraft. We deplaned because our aircraft could not be repaired quickly. We boarded another aircraft and departed, landing in lga 3 hours late.
