Narrative:
After a runway 22R landing and a hold short of runway 27R, we were instructed to cross runway 27R at taxiway C and to turn right on taxiway B, then contact ground. While crossing the runway, we noticed an air carrier Y F100 stopped just across the hold short, blocking our path and our ability to clear the runway for traffic, which was on short final. We informed tower we were blocked and could not clear the runway, and tower sent the landing traffic around. Traffic clearing at taxiway C at times is sent around on taxiway B and other times simply turns left on taxiway H. Standardized tower instructions would help here, though conditions do not always allow for this to happen.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: ACR UNABLE TO CLR RWY.
Narrative: AFTER A RWY 22R LNDG AND A HOLD SHORT OF RWY 27R, WE WERE INSTRUCTED TO CROSS RWY 27R AT TXWY C AND TO TURN R ON TXWY B, THEN CONTACT GND. WHILE XING THE RWY, WE NOTICED AN ACR Y F100 STOPPED JUST ACROSS THE HOLD SHORT, BLOCKING OUR PATH AND OUR ABILITY TO CLR THE RWY FOR TFC, WHICH WAS ON SHORT FINAL. WE INFORMED TWR WE WERE BLOCKED AND COULD NOT CLR THE RWY, AND TWR SENT THE LNDG TFC AROUND. TFC CLRING AT TXWY C AT TIMES IS SENT AROUND ON TXWY B AND OTHER TIMES SIMPLY TURNS L ON TXWY H. STANDARDIZED TWR INSTRUCTIONS WOULD HELP HERE, THOUGH CONDITIONS DO NOT ALWAYS ALLOW FOR THIS TO HAPPEN.
