Narrative:
On initial call to sdf approach control, air carrier airplanes relay which ramp we are going to and the controller at that time tells us what runway to expect. We were going to ramp X and told to expect ILS runway 17R. That same controller instructed us to depart iiu VOR on a 340 degree heading for ILS runway 17R. The next controller vectored us to a 200 degree heading to intercept the 'localizer' and cleared for the approach. When on the localizer he asked us which runway we were going to as we were lined up for the right. We responded that was correct and he said we were supposed to be going to runway 17L. Neither of us ever heard runway 17L mentioned. We were told to expect ILS runway 17R and to our knowledge never told anything different. I think controllers should say 'turn to...heading and intercept the localizer for ILS...runway' every time they issue an approach clearance. They should say which localizer especially with parallel runways.

Title: B767 CREW WAS TOLD TO FLY THE ILS TO RWY 17R AT SDF. THE NEXT CTLR QUESTIONED WHY THEY WERE NOT FLYING THE ILS TO RWY 17L.
Narrative: ON INITIAL CALL TO SDF APCH CTL, ACR AIRPLANES RELAY WHICH RAMP WE ARE GOING TO AND THE CTLR AT THAT TIME TELLS US WHAT RWY TO EXPECT. WE WERE GOING TO RAMP X AND TOLD TO EXPECT ILS RWY 17R. THAT SAME CTLR INSTRUCTED US TO DEPART IIU VOR ON A 340 DEG HDG FOR ILS RWY 17R. THE NEXT CTLR VECTORED US TO A 200 DEG HDG TO INTERCEPT THE 'LOC' AND CLRED FOR THE APCH. WHEN ON THE LOC HE ASKED US WHICH RWY WE WERE GOING TO AS WE WERE LINED UP FOR THE R. WE RESPONDED THAT WAS CORRECT AND HE SAID WE WERE SUPPOSED TO BE GOING TO RWY 17L. NEITHER OF US EVER HEARD RWY 17L MENTIONED. WE WERE TOLD TO EXPECT ILS RWY 17R AND TO OUR KNOWLEDGE NEVER TOLD ANYTHING DIFFERENT. I THINK CTLRS SHOULD SAY 'TURN TO...HEADING AND INTERCEPT THE LOC FOR ILS...RWY' EVERY TIME THEY ISSUE AN APCH CLRNC. THEY SHOULD SAY WHICH LOC ESPECIALLY WITH PARALLEL RWYS.
