New 777 cockpit microphone. On approach nrt, using the boom microphone, the new hand microphone was in its holder next to the first officer's leg. First officer inadvertently keyed the hand microphone for approximately 40 seconds blocking the frequency. This microphone has unprotected transmit button and is located in a poor position both for access and for inadvertent transmission. Location needs to be changed.
