Narrative:

I was receiving a navigation check from lax-phog by a company check airman. During climb, we were cleared to our first fix. Discovered right FMC was not working correctly and both were required for this leg. Performed procedures to correct malfunction with no luck. Told ATC we needed to return to lax and no emergency was declared. ATC vectored us until we burned enough fuel and were below maximum landing weight, then proceeded to lax. We landed uneventfully.
