Narrative:
I first reported this problem via the system and have not received any response to it. The new security brief file is very specific about procedures to be used for access to cockpit in-flight. These procedures went into effect on may/xa/02. On every flight plan that is printed, the security procedures files are noted for our reference. In my preflight briefings to the flight attendants, I advise them that a change in security procedures exists for access to the cockpit in-flight. They all stare at me with blank faces when I tell them what these procedures are and that they have been if effect for almost 4 months now. They all tell me that they never received any information on this new cockpit access security procedure. How can they comply with a security procedure if they are not told what it is? An even greater concern to me is, why are not other capts briefing their flight attendant crews on this new procedure? The flight attendants have told me that no pilot has ever used this new procedure in the 4 months that it has been in effect. Are pilots not reading the security RF files for which we are responsible? Now following these prescribed procedures is a huge gap in security that cannot continue unchked. It is imperative that all flight attendants be sent a message informing them of the cockpit access security procedures in effect. Equally important would be a message to all pilots reminding them of the same and insisting that capts properly brief all necessary security procedures to their crews.
