Narrative:
Location: runway 8/15 intersection near gate. Taxi after landing. Landing on runway 8, our aircraft decelerated and we wanted to taxi at a 45 degree right angle to our gate at the airport. Upon slowing, we noticed a jet that had pushed off of gate. After looking to our left, we saw no traffic departing runway 15. We turned down runway 15 to get behind the tugged MD80 coming off of gate that was now stopped and being unhooked. Tower said, while taxiing down runway 15, it was ok and to pull into the apron (area behind our departing company) and we did so. After a couple of mins, our company called for taxi and we were cleared to our gate. The angle between our nose position and the gate taxi line is, in my estimation about 105 degrees, and there is not enough room to taxi within the confines of the runway hold lines painted along the sides of runway 15/33. A small cessna type aircraft landed on runway 15 and I heard the cessna say they were getting off at taxiway B2. We started to taxi and our right wingtip had to go slightly over the hold line, still well south of the intersection of runway 8 and runway 15. It is impossible to make that turn tight enough as the nose would come close, and most likely impact, the numerous baggage carts and jet stairs that are parked at a point north and northeast of gate. (Mind you, I have just landed a 117000 pound MD80 using only 3800 ft of runway, so I am confident in what the aircraft is and is not capable of doing using proper technique.) I visually determined no traffic was on runway 8 (the little cessna had since taxied off) and allowed about 10-15 ft of the right wing to go over the runway 8 hold line in order to maneuver the aircraft into position to line up on the gate. The agent handed me a note to call the tower. The gentleman was very nice as was I, and we both concluded that there is a need to take a look at this operation and get some guidelines into our procedure charts. I do not plan on landing and turning straight in to the gate, but continuing on down runway 8 to the old gate area where you will be held and then allowed to back taxi to the new gate. Pilots need to be reminded they need permission when any part of the aircraft will go over one of the painted runway hold lines even when cleared to maneuver to their respective gate, to err on the side of caution at this airport and just get on the radio and ask. Apparently a clearance to taxi to the gate at this airport is not a clearance to incur on one of the runways. Therefore, an extra question needs to be posed to ground -- ie, are we allowed to have our wing go over the hold line?

Title: MD80 FLC HAS RWY INCURSION WHILE TAXIING TO THEIR GATE AT BUR.
Narrative: LOCATION: RWY 8/15 INTXN NEAR GATE. TAXI AFTER LNDG. LNDG ON RWY 8, OUR ACFT DECELERATED AND WE WANTED TO TAXI AT A 45 DEG R ANGLE TO OUR GATE AT THE ARPT. UPON SLOWING, WE NOTICED A JET THAT HAD PUSHED OFF OF GATE. AFTER LOOKING TO OUR L, WE SAW NO TFC DEPARTING RWY 15. WE TURNED DOWN RWY 15 TO GET BEHIND THE TUGGED MD80 COMING OFF OF GATE THAT WAS NOW STOPPED AND BEING UNHOOKED. TWR SAID, WHILE TAXIING DOWN RWY 15, IT WAS OK AND TO PULL INTO THE APRON (AREA BEHIND OUR DEPARTING COMPANY) AND WE DID SO. AFTER A COUPLE OF MINS, OUR COMPANY CALLED FOR TAXI AND WE WERE CLRED TO OUR GATE. THE ANGLE BTWN OUR NOSE POS AND THE GATE TAXI LINE IS, IN MY ESTIMATION ABOUT 105 DEGS, AND THERE IS NOT ENOUGH ROOM TO TAXI WITHIN THE CONFINES OF THE RWY HOLD LINES PAINTED ALONG THE SIDES OF RWY 15/33. A SMALL CESSNA TYPE ACFT LANDED ON RWY 15 AND I HEARD THE CESSNA SAY THEY WERE GETTING OFF AT TXWY B2. WE STARTED TO TAXI AND OUR R WINGTIP HAD TO GO SLIGHTLY OVER THE HOLD LINE, STILL WELL S OF THE INTXN OF RWY 8 AND RWY 15. IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO MAKE THAT TURN TIGHT ENOUGH AS THE NOSE WOULD COME CLOSE, AND MOST LIKELY IMPACT, THE NUMEROUS BAGGAGE CARTS AND JET STAIRS THAT ARE PARKED AT A POINT N AND NE OF GATE. (MIND YOU, I HAVE JUST LANDED A 117000 LB MD80 USING ONLY 3800 FT OF RWY, SO I AM CONFIDENT IN WHAT THE ACFT IS AND IS NOT CAPABLE OF DOING USING PROPER TECHNIQUE.) I VISUALLY DETERMINED NO TFC WAS ON RWY 8 (THE LITTLE CESSNA HAD SINCE TAXIED OFF) AND ALLOWED ABOUT 10-15 FT OF THE R WING TO GO OVER THE RWY 8 HOLD LINE IN ORDER TO MANEUVER THE ACFT INTO POS TO LINE UP ON THE GATE. THE AGENT HANDED ME A NOTE TO CALL THE TWR. THE GENTLEMAN WAS VERY NICE AS WAS I, AND WE BOTH CONCLUDED THAT THERE IS A NEED TO TAKE A LOOK AT THIS OP AND GET SOME GUIDELINES INTO OUR PROC CHARTS. I DO NOT PLAN ON LNDG AND TURNING STRAIGHT IN TO THE GATE, BUT CONTINUING ON DOWN RWY 8 TO THE OLD GATE AREA WHERE YOU WILL BE HELD AND THEN ALLOWED TO BACK TAXI TO THE NEW GATE. PLTS NEED TO BE REMINDED THEY NEED PERMISSION WHEN ANY PART OF THE ACFT WILL GO OVER ONE OF THE PAINTED RWY HOLD LINES EVEN WHEN CLRED TO MANEUVER TO THEIR RESPECTIVE GATE, TO ERR ON THE SIDE OF CAUTION AT THIS ARPT AND JUST GET ON THE RADIO AND ASK. APPARENTLY A CLRNC TO TAXI TO THE GATE AT THIS ARPT IS NOT A CLRNC TO INCUR ON ONE OF THE RWYS. THEREFORE, AN EXTRA QUESTION NEEDS TO BE POSED TO GND -- IE, ARE WE ALLOWED TO HAVE OUR WING GO OVER THE HOLD LINE?
