Narrative:

While performing a function check for a rudder PCU leakage check, a relay wire shorted to ground. The short happened when I was attempting to install an amp clamp meter. The only reasonable cause for the short that I can think of is the wire had a bare spot and shorted to the adec clamp stand-off that was 1 inch or so away from where I was installing the amp clamp. We right&right'ed the P92 panel to fix the problem.

Title: A B737-700 INCURRED WIRING DAMAGE WHEN A TECHNICIAN ATTEMPTED TO INSTALL A CURRENT METER SENSOR ON A BOOST PUMP RELAY WIRE WITH PWR ON.

Narrative: WHILE PERFORMING A FUNCTION CHK FOR A RUDDER PCU LEAKAGE CHK, A RELAY WIRE SHORTED TO GND. THE SHORT HAPPENED WHEN I WAS ATTEMPTING TO INSTALL AN AMP CLAMP METER. THE ONLY REASONABLE CAUSE FOR THE SHORT THAT I CAN THINK OF IS THE WIRE HAD A BARE SPOT AND SHORTED TO THE ADEC CLAMP STAND-OFF THAT WAS 1 INCH OR SO AWAY FROM WHERE I WAS INSTALLING THE AMP CLAMP. WE R&R'ED THE P92 PANEL TO FIX THE PROB.
