Narrative:
About 1 hour and 20 min into our flight crew, flight crew attendant #4 approached the cockpit with a digital camera. She told me that a passenger had taken a picture of the right side engine, and she needed to show it to the captain. After showing the picture to the captain, the captain went out to talk to the photographer to discuss what he had seen. Flight crew attendant #4 had told me that the passenger saw a piece of rubber tearing away from the engine. After discussing the incident with the passenger, the captain returned to the cockpit to make contact with maintenance. He then made a PA announcing that as a precaution, we would be diverting to ord instead of dfw. Approximately 25 mins after this, we safely landed at ord airport.
