Narrative:
After flying with my crew this week, I realized what a grave mistake the canceling of flight attendant meals on long haul international flts would be. Not only will it be difficult to keep food to eat safe and fresh, but also the logistics of flight attendant trying to take care of their own food while taking care of our flying passenger creates too many negative issues for the flight attendant that didn't have a chance to get something at the last min -- like the ready extra that was called out on my trip. Add to that the issue that we pilots get meals while they don't only act to crate more friction animosity in an already difficult time here. I don't believe the savings for international long haul could ever outweigh long term cost in bitter attitudes between cockpit and cabin. There are many flight attendants who already have more than enough reasons to be bitter towards us. I really wish that the flight department would take the first step towards doing the right thing even if it meant paying for the meals out of our own budget. It really will become a safety issue if we ignore it for a minuscule savings.
