Narrative:
VFR to slc. Cleared into class B airspace. Given altitude of 6500 ft and follow shoreline to visual chkpoint 'lagoon amusement park.' copilot entered 'vpcvi' instead of 'vplgn' in error and I did not catch it. About 5 mi from 'lagoon' lies 'vpcai.' approach then asked us to descend 6000 ft which took us out of class B. We then proceeded to 'vpcvi' and approach informed us that we cut just inside of class B. Contributing factor: smoke from brush fire, haze, facing early morning sun caused over-reliance on FMS/GPS to pinpoint position and navigation. Contributing factors: was error in inputting waypoint into FMS (they are very close together). Also, I suggest that once cleared into class B, ATC should not give a pilot vectors or altitudes taking him out of class B, necessitating yet another class B clearance. Especially if the plane announced its intentions to land at the primary airport. We had to ask the controller several times if we were cleared into class B after being given vectors at altitudes which would have taken us into class B. Then to be vectored or asked to descend out of class B airspace and expect to be reclred back into 'class B airspace' is a bit much in a very busy terminal area!

Narrative: VFR TO SLC. CLRED INTO CLASS B AIRSPACE. GIVEN ALT OF 6500 FT AND FOLLOW SHORELINE TO VISUAL CHKPOINT 'LAGOON AMUSEMENT PARK.' THEN TO BE VECTORED OR ASKED TO DSND OUT OF CLASS B AIRSPACE AND EXPECT TO BE RECLRED BACK INTO 'CLASS B AIRSPACE' IS A BIT MUCH IN A VERY BUSY TERMINAL AREA!
