Narrative:
I went into a reduced rest period of 8 hours the next day. On previous day, I flew 6 hours 3 mins before being released into rest at XA55. In the preceding 24 hour period before my rest period began, I had flown total of 8 hours and 39 mins. According to far 121.471, I had flown more than 8 hours in the preceding 24 hours before my EST period began at XA55. I should have been given 11 hours of rest. Instead, I was given 10 hours and I was assigned the standby ready reserve shift on friday from XA00 to XI00. I signed in on friday at XA00. At XC21, I received a call from crew scheduling informing me that I was being released to rest. The only reason I recall being given was that I had had a reduced rest period the night before on wednesday and that a warning had come up on their computer. I reviewed this matter with the chief pilot at approximately XA30 on wednesday. Upon reviewing the pertinent regulations, we both determined that I was in violation.
