Narrative:
I was sic of flight from iad-ack. It was our first flight in the aircraft and on preflight found the #2 radio management unit was MEL'ed. We took the aircraft and flew as per the MEL and left iad to ack. After about 10 mins into the flight, the #1 radio management unit started to not work. We then used the aircraft air phone to call ATC. After talking to ATC, we decided that since it was VFR and we were in communications with ATC we would continue the flight to ack. The radio worked off and on -- between the phone and the radio we were always in contact with ATC. No FARS were broken and we landed in ack without incident. ATC was nothing but helpful the whole time.
