Narrative:

As PF turning left final at ord runway 27L, noticed nose on traffic to runway 27R. Looked like he was going to overshoot runway 27R and encroach on our flight path. Stated this to PNF, captain queried approach. Meanwhile approaching aircraft air carrier Y, continued to roll out on our flight path. We level off while the PNF continued to ask ATC about the situation. Air carrier Y rolled out directly behind us and about 300 ft below. I estimate the closest point of approach at 100 ft. The air carrier Y B767 then corrected back to runway 27R and the approachs continued. We received a TA on initial point of approach but did not get an RA. The targets appeared to be merged on the TCASII. Bottom line air carrier Y went for the wrong runway, ATC did not catch it and we almost had a midair.
